In Slovakia, the antitrust authority has been investigating a cartel of private hospitals for over a year, leading to increasing legal challenges against its actions. Following unannounced inspections in October 2024, the office uncovered evidence suggesting that four entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector were involved in price-fixing, coordinated negotiations with health insurers, and exchanged sensitive business information. As of now, the office has seen 13 lawsuits filed under administrative court jurisdiction related to the case, along with several criminal complaints directed at its employees. Additionally, the antitrust office has faced a fine from the Office for Personal Data Protection, amounting to €11,250, which it has appealed. The office firmly denies any wrongdoing, asserting that its investigation has not compromised personal data or led to any leaks, a claim supported by findings from relevant law enforcement agencies.
