The UK government is introducing a requirement for non-British and non-Irish travelers to register for an electronic travel authorization (ETA) prior to their journeys. The ETA, described by the government as a means to create a more efficient and secure immigration process, acts as a digital permission slip for entry into the UK, although it does not guarantee admission.
