Recent data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany reveals that approximately 1.9 million individuals with higher education qualifications may be at risk of poverty by 2025, marking an increase of 350,000 compared to 2022. This alarming statistic comes as the number of individuals with higher educational qualifications has also risen sharply over the same period, increasing by more than 1.6 million to reach around 21.04 million in 2025, up from 19.41 million in 2022. This contradiction raises concerns about the effectiveness of the job market in absorbing highly educated workers, as represented through a report requested by the Left Party (Die Linke) and cited by the German news agency.
