The Young Senator Program has opened enrollment for students from Acre, providing public high school students with the unique opportunity to experience a week in the Brazilian Senate in Brasília. This initiative allows students to act as senators for a week and is aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of the legislative process in Brazil. The registration period extends until April 17, and the program will select 27 participants, one from each state, ensuring representation across the country.

Participants must be under 19 years old by December 31 of this year and will be selected through a writing contest. The chosen students will engage in the Legislative Experience Week, scheduled for August 17 to 21 in the Federal District. The Senate will cover all travel, accommodation, and meal expenses for both the selected students and their accompanying teachers, making this experience accessible to a broader group of students.

The theme for the 2026 writing competition is "Democracy on Social Networks: how to build a healthy debate," which emphasizes the importance of understanding democratic values and the role of social media in fostering discussion among young people. This program is not only an educational initiative but also a means to cultivate the next generation of informed citizens and potentially future leaders in Brazil.
