JPSC Candidates Get Major Relief from High Court, Age Limit Relaxed

The Jharkhand High Court has provided significant relief to JPSC aspirants by ordering the commission to accept applications from candidates exceeding the age limit for the upcoming exam.

The Jharkhand High Court has granted a major relief to candidates aspiring for the Joint Civil Services Examination conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) by allowing applicants over the prescribed age limit of 14th JPSC to submit their forms. Justice Anand Sen ruled in favor of the petitioners who argued that due to irregularities in the commission's processes and delays in examinations, eligible candidates were being unfairly excluded from the recruitment opportunity.

Approximately over 200 candidates had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the age criteria set by the JPSC, emphasizing that the procedural delays and inconsistencies should not penalize those who wish to apply. The Court's directive enables these candidates to fill out their offline forms, thereby ensuring that a significant number of prospective candidates are not denied the chance to participate in the examination.

This ruling not only alleviates the pressure on JPSC aspirants but also sets a precedent for future cases regarding eligibility criteria in government examinations. It reflects the judiciary's role in ensuring fairness and transparency in recruitment processes, while also highlighting the responsibility of examination bodies to adhere to set timelines and maintain proper standards in conducting assessments.
