With just under two minutes remaining in the game, it seemed that Canada was on the verge of securing the gold medal; however, Hilary Knight scored a crucial equalizer for the Americans, tying the game 1-1 and forcing it into overtime.
In the overtime period, Megan Keller scored the decisive goal just over four minutes in, assisted by Hilary Knight, sealing the victory for the USA. Throughout the tournament, the American team demonstrated remarkable skill, finishing the Olympic event undefeated. They showcased their prowess right from the group stage, winning all four of their matches with a spectacular goal differential of 20:1, including a resounding 5-0 victory over Canada, which further built their momentum into the knockout stages.
