Expert: Trump is serious about attacks on Iran

A Finnish expert suggests that the U.S. is ready to strike Iran due to ongoing tensions regarding its nuclear program.

Olli Ruohomäki, a visiting senior expert at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, believes that the United States is poised to strike Iran possibly as soon as this weekend. He notes that the Iranian government, composed of mullahs and the Revolutionary Guard, has crossed numerous lines, having killed thousands of its own citizens. According to Ruohomäki, Iran appears to be stalling, making it unlikely that negotiations will yield any results.

The U.S. threat of military action against Iran has escalated amid ongoing disputes over its nuclear program. The United States demands an end to Iran's nuclear arms program, restrictions on ballistic missiles, and a halt to support for militant groups in the Middle East such as the Houthi movement in Yemen, Hamas, and Hezbollah. In response, Iran has shown a willingness to negotiate solely regarding its nuclear program, seeking relief from economic sanctions as a counter.

Given these dynamics, Ruohomäki emphasizes that the best way to resolve the crisis between the U.S. and Iran remains complicated. The lack of trust and the stakes involved, especially around nuclear proliferation and regional stability, make the path to a diplomatic solution challenging and fraught with potential consequences for both nations and their allies.
