President Karol Nawrocki has introduced a controversial bill aimed at "repairing" the judiciary system in Poland, which has been dubbed a more extreme version of the previous intimidatory laws. This new legislation explicitly prohibits judges from applying EU law and imposes severe penalties, including imprisonment for up to 10 years, hefty fines of up to 40,000 PLN, and automatic disqualification from their profession for executing rulings from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). This move is seen as a direct confrontation against both the European Union and judges who advocate for rule of law.
