In Kurzeme, the air will warm up to +1 degree

Weather forecasts indicate that temperatures in Latvia will rise to +1 degree Celsius in the western regions by Friday, with varying weather conditions across the country.

On an early Friday morning, clouds have dispersed in many areas of Latvia, particularly in the central region. Light snowfall is occurring in some places, with a higher concentration of precipitation observed in the eastern parts of the country according to meteorological information. The latest data from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) shows that snow depths at observation stations vary from eight centimeters in Kolka, Mērsrags, Ainaži, and Rūjiena, to 51 centimeters in Sīļi, Līvāni Municipality, and 54 centimeters in Dagda.

A light to moderate westerly and northwesterly wind is blowing, while the air quality is reported to be good. In the early hours, morning temperatures range from -2.0 degrees Celsius in Pāvilosta to -15.5 degrees Celsius recorded at the Stende observation station, which had notably reached -17.2 degrees an hour earlier. In Riga, the weather is clear with a northwesterly wind blowing at speeds of 2-6 meters per second and temperatures hovering around -10 degrees Celsius.

Forecasts predict that the maximum temperatures in Latvia on Friday will range from +1 degree Celsius in the western regions down to -5 degrees Celsius in the eastern areas. The cloud cover is expected to be variable throughout the day, with no significant precipitation anticipated, though there may be occasional light snowfall. This variability in temperature and conditions adds to the complexity of winter weather in Latvia, as residents prepare for fluctuating climate patterns.
