'Very Good...,' Shashi Tharoor Praised the India AI Summit

Shashi Tharoor praised the India AI Impact Summit taking place in Delhi, emphasizing its significance despite some organizational issues that were noted by other politicians.

The India AI Impact Summit is currently being held in New Delhi, attracting tech leaders from around the world, including French President Emmanuel Macron and heads of state from various countries. While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the event as chaotic PR for the government, fellow party member Shashi Tharoor expressed support, noting that the first two days of the summit had been very good despite some expected setbacks given the magnitude of the event.

Tharoor highlighted the importance of the summit, where numerous global leaders came together to stress the need for a unified world in the development of AI, with a focus on societal impact being a key principle. He mentioned that while he had not physically attended the summit yet, he had received positive feedback regarding the program, indicating a healthy dialogue on the future of AI.

In addressing questions regarding a recent comment by President Macron on the Rafale deal, Tharoor acknowledged that parts of the Rafale aircraft are being manufactured in India, which he believes strengthens national defense and promotes self-reliance within the country. This reflects the broader theme of how international collaborations can bolster domestic industries while addressing pressing global topics like artificial intelligence.
