A Dream Written in a Notebook Becomes Reality: Ami Nakai's Pursuit of the Triple Axel

Ami Nakai achieved her dream by winning a bronze medal in figure skating at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, completing the challenging triple axel jump.

At the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Ami Nakai made her dream come true by clinching a bronze medal in women's figure skating. Initially surprised to see the number '3' next to her name on the score monitor, she celebrated her achievement joyfully, alongside her emotional coach, Kousuke Nakazawa. Inspired by the renowned skater Mao Asada since she was four years old, Nakai dedicated herself to skating and was encouraged by her coach to keep a diary to reflect on her progress and challenges.

Nakai recounted how her diary included motivational phrases, Olympic symbols, and her determination to never give up. She worked diligently on the triple axel jump, which was also a specialty of Asada’s, although she experienced numerous challenges during her practice sessions. On competition day, despite earlier struggles, she succeeded in executing the jump, making it the pinnacle of her performance and achieving her ultimate goal of winning a medal at the Olympics.

At just 17 years old, Nakai became Japan's youngest figure skating medalist, surpassing the records of her idols, Asada and Yuma Kagiyama. Her achievement not only brings her personal fulfillment but also marks a significant moment in Japanese figure skating history, inspiring future generations of skaters to pursue their dreams relentlessly.
