Ecatepec government recognizes firefighters' efforts in more than 800 fires in the municipality
The Ecatepec government acknowledged the work of local firefighters who responded to 817 fires last year, emphasizing their bravery and the challenges posed by irregular businesses.
The Ecatepec municipality’s Civil Protection and Fire Department handled a staggering 817 fire incidents in the past year, including 121 forest fires. Mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss expressed her gratitude towards the firefighters, labeling them as heroes for their commitment to safeguarding the community's safety. The statement highlights the challenges faced by these brave personnel, who routinely put their lives at risk to combat various kinds of fires.
In her address, the mayor pointed out that the high number of fires is often linked to the existence of irregular businesses operating in the area. Many of these establishments fail to adhere to safety regulations, which exacerbates the risk of fires due to improper storage of flammable materials. The government's proactive approach includes suspension of 812 irregular units that could pose a danger to the community, showcasing a concerted effort to mitigate fire hazards.
This acknowledgment not only serves to honor the firefighters but also raises awareness about the critical need for regulatory compliance among local businesses. The recognition from local authorities encourages a stronger collaboration between businesses and safety departments, which is vital for preventing future incidents, ensuring public safety, and protecting the community from the deadly consequences of fires.
