Shots fired during a car fire in Grimstad did not injure anyone, according to police reports.
Emergency services responded to a car fire in Grimstad on Thursday evening. During the incident, it was reported that ammunition exploded within the vehicle, although no injuries occurred. According to police operations leader Frode Vang, a weapon was stored in the vehicle, and one shot was discharged as a result of the fire. The weapon was subsequently removed from the car by authorities.
The police secured the area and closed the road adjacent to the burning vehicle. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire before 9:30 PM, and the road was reopened shortly after. Although the police carried out an investigation, they do not suspect any criminal activity associated with the fire, as no one had been hit by a bullet during the incident.
The driver of the car sustained burns and was taken away by ambulance for treatment. Fortunately, there were no nearby houses at risk from the fire or the gunfire, indicating that the situation did not pose further danger to the public in the surrounding area. The incident raises concerns about vehicle safety, particularly regarding the storage of firearms and ammunition in personal vehicles.
