Lajous announces that TUV Rheinland will be the company responsible for certifying the Interoceanic Train
TUV Rheinland, a German company, has been appointed to certify the Interoceanic Train following a fatal derailment in Oaxaca.
The director general of the Agency of Trains and Integrated Public Transport (ATTRAPI), Andrés Lajous, announced that the German firm TUV Rheinland will be responsible for certifying the Interoceanic Train after a derailment incident last year in Oaxaca that resulted in 14 deaths. Lajous stated that the certification process has already begun and TUV Rheinland will provide recommendations aimed at improving safety and operational standards for the train service.
During a press conference held at the National Palace, Lajous emphasized the importance of implementing the company's recommendations to ensure the reliable operation of the Interoceanic Train. He indicated that TUV Rheinland was selected due to its independence, noting that the company has no ties to any parties involved in the accident. This decision is crucial to restoring public confidence in the safety of the train service.
The derailment incident raised significant concerns about train safety in Mexico, prompting the government to seek a reputable firm for certification. The collaboration with TUV Rheinland, which specializes in safety and quality assurance, reflects the government's commitment to enhancing transportation safety standards and preventing future accidents in the rail sector.
