Man escapes attempted murder after demanding payment in Dom Cavati

A man escaped an attempted murder in Dom Cavati after confronting a co-worker over a debt.

In the early hours of Thursday, a man narrowly escaped an attempted murder in Dom Cavati, Brazil, which was reportedly linked to a debt of R$ 450 owed by a colleague. According to the Military Police, the victim had lent the money about two months prior and had gone to the debtor's home to resolve the matter. The suspect indicated he would find a solution and asked the victim to wait for contact.

While walking through the town, the victim noticed he was being followed by another young man. At one point, the suspect approached him, brandishing a firearm. The victim heard a malfunctioning gunshot but managed to flee the scene, while the assailant subsequently ran away. The Military Police responded to the incident and initiated a search for the suspects involved.

Authorities were able to locate one individual who attempted to escape upon seeing the police vehicle but was apprehended. Despite being captured, the suspect denied any involvement in the attempted murder, and a mobile phone was seized during the operation. The event underscores the potential dangers arising from personal disputes over debts and raises questions about the adequacy of measures in handling such conflicts in communities.
