Trump's Peace Council Meets for the First Time – $10 Billion Funding from the USA
Donald Trump's newly established Peace Council held its inaugural meeting in Washington, where he announced a $10 billion funding initiative for the reconstruction of Gaza.
The Peace Council, established and led by U.S. President Donald Trump, convened its first meeting in Washington, D.C., where Trump revealed a substantial commitment of $10 billion for the reconstruction of Gaza. The initiative, initially focused on rebuilding efforts in the region, aims to achieve lasting harmony in an area that has faced conflict and suffering for centuries. Trump's optimistic rhetoric emphasized collaborative efforts to realize the dream of peace in the region, encouraging participation from various nations in the reconstruction goals.
During the meeting, it was announced that Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority country, would take on a deputy commander role in the international stabilization forces (ISF) aimed at ensuring stability in Gaza. Indonesia expressed its readiness to send up to 8,000 troops as part of these international efforts. Morocco was highlighted as the first Arab nation to commit troops to the mission, and other countries including Albania, Kazakhstan, and Kosovo also pledged to contribute forces. The envisioned ISF aims to consist of approximately 20,000 troops and police personnel to effectively manage and stabilize the region post-conflict.
The reception of this initiative from western nations appears lukewarm, as some have not shown enthusiasm for deploying troops or committing resources to the mission. Despite the collective backing of at least 27 countries for the conference, the varying levels of commitment from international partners could pose challenges for the success of the Peace Council's objectives. The long-term effectiveness of this peace initiative will depend on garnering sustained support from all involved parties, as well as the successful coordination of military and humanitarian efforts in the region.
