Federal judge holds DOJ attorney in contempt over ICE case
A federal judge has found a Justice Department attorney in contempt of court for failing to comply with her orders related to a detained immigrant's case and has imposed a daily fine.
In a recent ruling, Judge Laura Provinzino of the U.S. District Court found Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Isihara in civil contempt over issues pertaining to the case of Rigoberto Soto Jimenez, a detained Mexican immigrant residing in Big Lake, Minnesota. Judge Provinzino, who was appointed by President Biden, has now mandated a daily fine of $500 for Isihara, emphasizing the necessity for the government to adhere to her court orders without exception. This ruling reflects the judge's commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of detained individuals.
