Witnesses sought: ATM torn from the wall in Eching
Police are seeking witnesses to a break-in at a gas station in Eching where an ATM was forcibly removed and its cash contents stolen.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, police reported a significant break-in at a gas station located on Dieselstraße in Eching. The burglary occurred around 2:30 AM when the intruders forcefully pried open the entrance door to the gas station, allowing them access to the sales area. Once inside, they removed an ATM from the wall with considerable force, and quickly fled the scene with the cash cassette, the total value of which is currently unknown but expected to be substantial.
The local police department, Kripo Erding, has described the incident as significantly damaging, estimating the total damage, including the ATM and cash, to be around 15,000 Euros. The police are actively investigating the case and are particularly interested in any eyewitness accounts or relevant information regarding the crime. They believe the suspects may have been driving a dark station wagon, encouraging anyone who may have seen something suspicious to come forward.
This break-in highlights the increasing trend of ATM thefts, particularly in small-town settings where such crimes can have a serious impact on the community's sense of safety. Local residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any unusual activity to assist law enforcement in apprehending the suspects and preventing similar incidents in the future.
