Accessing southern ski resorts in Finland remains difficult for many, as public transportation options are limited and often entail long distances to bus stops.
In southern Finland, reaching ski resorts is a challenge due to the lack of efficient public transportation. Most ski centers are located away from major traffic routes, making personal vehicles the primary means of travel for many skiers. This situation particularly affects local youth who find it hard to get to nearby ski trips as they often rely on others for rides. Kalle Maattola, head of skiing operations at Messilä Ski Resort, highlighted the need for better public transport connections, especially for young people.
