Brēmanis Loses Case Against the Latvian State in European Court of Human Rights
Rūdolfs Brēmanis, a current Riga City Council deputy, lost his appeal in the European Court of Human Rights regarding the legality of a search conducted at his residence as part of a criminal investigation.
The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the complaints in the case 'Brēmanis and others v. Latvia', one of the applicants being Rūdolfs Brēmanis, a Riga City Council deputy. The plaintiffs alleged that the search of their residences and the seizure of documents and devices within the framework of a criminal procedure contradicted their rights as guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights. The Latvian Foreign Ministry informed that the court's decision initially addressed the government's argument that Brēmanis had not exhausted domestic legal remedies regarding the seizure of firearms and ammunition.
