A teenager in the Perm region has been arrested for critically injuring a classmate in a knife attack at School No. 1 in Alexandrovsk.
On Thursday, a 13-year-old student in Alexandrovsk, Perm region, was arrested after attacking a classmate with a knife, resulting in critical injuries. The attack, which occurred during a conflict between the two students, left the victim with serious wounds to the neck and torso. Perm region Governor Dmitry Makhoninn reported that the injured student was being transported to a hospital in Berezniki, with additional medical support being dispatched from the city of Perm.
This incident has prompted a swift response from authorities, as the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into the case, looking into charges of attempted murder, negligence, and safety violations within the school environment. Governor Makhoninn expressed concern over the series of similar incidents, as this attack is the sixth recorded knife assault in Russian schools since the beginning of the year, highlighting ongoing issues of youth violence in educational settings.
In reaction to the gravity of the situation, the local administration in Alexandrovsk decided to cancel classes at all schools in the area to ensure student safety while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
