Åre Health Center Staffs Up During Sports Break – Welcoming Thousands More

Åre Health Center is increasing its staff with additional doctors and nurses to accommodate the surge in visitors during the sports break.

In preparation for the upcoming sports break, Åre Health Center is expanding its workforce by adding more doctors and nurses to handle the anticipated increase in patients. The center is not only catering to Swedish visitors but also seeing a significant influx of people from Denmark, Finland, and Norway. To further support medical needs during this busy period, an extra ambulance will be stationed there.

The influx of visitors is expected to lead to a rise in common sports-related injuries, particularly knee injuries, wrist fractures, and lower leg injuries. Åre Health Center is well-equipped to manage these cases, having both X-ray facilities and casting technicians on site. Maria Kerner, a representative from the health center, noted that this capability allows them to treat patients effectively in-house, which in turn helps reduce the pressure on the emergency services at Östersund Hospital.

The strategic staffing and readiness of the Åre Health Center highlight the importance of providing adequate healthcare support during busy tourism seasons. With the sports break drawing attention from neighboring countries, swift and effective medical services will be essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of visitors engaging in winter sports activities.
