Brandt: the Centre region and the metropolis of Orléans support an asset recovery offer

The Centre region and the metropolis of Orléans are backing a proposal to recover the assets of Brandt in collaboration with New Caledonian company Gladius.

The Centre-Val de Loire region and the metropolis of Orléans have announced their support for an asset recovery proposal for Brandt, in association with Gladius, a company that has been in the household appliance sector since 2024. This proposal aims to regain all Brandt’s assets and brands, sparking hope among former employees after the company's liquidation in December. The decision was made public during a presentation to the economic activities tribunal in Nanterre, where the two entities emphasized their commitment to industrial employment and the future of the local sites.

The liquidation of Brandt, which occurred on December 11, has led to multiple offers from various parties interested in acquiring the brand and its operations. As of the latest count, 36 offers have been submitted for the recovery of Brandt’s brands, factories, and other assets. This initiative by the local government highlights the importance placed on preserving local jobs and reviving a significant player in the household appliance market, which had previously been a leader in the sector in France.

The outcome of this proposal will be revealed by the Nanterre tribunal on March 13, which adds a layer of urgency to the situation. The collective effort of local governments to partner with Gladius indicates a proactive approach to tackling economic challenges posed by Brandt's collapse and signals an investment in the region’s industrial future. Community support for such initiatives is crucial for revitalizing local economies and instilling confidence in the workforce that a new chapter is possible for the brand.
