Adonis Georgiadis on incidents at Nikaia Hospital: My physical integrity was endangered – If it weren't for the police, I would have been seriously injured

Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis reported that he faced violent protests during his visit to Nikaia Hospital, where he was inaugurating new facilities.

During a visit to Nikaia Hospital in Greece, Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis faced violent protests as he attempted to inaugurate new emergency facilities worth 4 million euros. The hospital's budget has significantly increased from 2019 to 2026, with the addition of more medical staff. These changes are part of a larger effort to improve healthcare services in the region.

Georgiadis explained that prior to his visit, protests were announced by various groups including the Labor Centre, the KKE (Communist Party of Greece), and ANTAFYS, who intended to stage demonstrations against government policies. When he arrived, demonstrators encircled him, hurling objects such as bottles, eggs, and stones, and attempting to physically prevent his entrance, which posed a significant threat to his safety.

The Minister was able to bring his message forward partly due to the police presence that ensured his protection during the incident. He reported sustaining an injury to his hand in the altercation and emphasized the need for continuous improvements in medical facilities amidst ongoing public dissent over health policies.
