Statkraft: Employees Take Over Silva Green Fuel
Statkraft and a group of former Silva Green Fuel employees have reached an agreement allowing for the continuation of advanced biofuels technology testing.
Statkraft, a significant player in the energy sector, has announced an agreement with a group of former employees of Silva Green Fuel that will allow for the ongoing testing of advanced biofuel production technology. This development follows Statkraft's previous indication of its intention to prioritize profitable growth and streamline operations, including substantial staff reductions across its operations. The agreement is expected to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and demo facilities to the newly formed Silva Biofuel AS, which is owned by these former employees.
The decision to transfer operations comes as part of Statkraft's broader strategy to concentrate on established technologies while also communicating its findings regarding Silva Green Fuel's future. Statkraft's leadership has stated that the former Silva Green Fuel team has made significant efforts to develop hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) technology, positioning them as leaders in the industry. The new arrangement not only preserves the developed expertise but also ensures that innovation in biofuels continues under the stewardship of those familiar with the technology.
Henrik Sætness, Statkraft's corporate director, emphasized the importance of this agreement for enabling future advancements in biofuel technology. Silva Biofuel AS will inherit knowledge from Statkraft, which previously sought to find new owners for the company. This shift indicates a commitment to fostering innovation in the biofuel sector, even as Statkraft adjusts its operational focus, balancing the need for strategic growth with evolving energy demands.
