Economist Kasjanovs Approved by the Fiscal Discipline Council
Economist Kasjanovs has been confirmed as a member of the Fiscal Discipline Council in Latvia following a nomination by the President of the Bank of Latvia and the Minister of Finance.
Kasjanovs is currently a senior expert in the Sustainability and Mandate department at the Nordic Investment Bank (NIB), and he has extensive experience in economic roles in Latvia, including positions at the Bank of Latvia and the Ministry of Finance. His appointment comes after the resignation of MΔris ΔboliΕΕ‘, who voluntarily vacated his seat on the Fiscal Discipline Council (FDP) ahead of the September 2024 parliamentary elections. The Fiscal Discipline Law mandates that three out of six FDP members must be proposed for appointment by the President of the Bank of Latvia and the Minister of Finance, underscoring the collaborative nature of government appointments in Latvia.
