On February 20th, Tartu University will hold a concert event to celebrate the 108th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, featuring important awards and a live broadcast.

On February 20, the academic community of Tartu University will gather at noon in the main building's atrium to celebrate Estonia's 108th anniversary with a concert event. The occasion will feature the presentation of several significant awards, including those for social actions, scientific achievements, language contributions, and the title of Teacher of the Year. Local media, Tartu Postimees, will provide live coverage of the festivities.

As part of the celebrations, the university traditionally awards prizes for social achievements, scientific research, contributions to language, and recognizes the Teacher of the Year. This year's recognized social initiative is the establishment of the Estonian cancer prevention network, while scientific work focuses on genetic mechanisms affecting women's reproductive health. In terms of language contributions, there will be an exhibition showcasing Estonian academic and educational literature to align with the year of the book.

The event will be opened by Vice-Rector for Research Mari Moora, followed by an academic presentation titled 'International Law as a Stronghold in the Midst of Storms' by Professor Rene Värk, who specializes in international law. This event not only honors past achievements but also inspires continued excellence in various fields at the university, contributing to the broader national celebrations of Estonia's independence.
