Adamawa APC to hold ward congress after national convention
The Adamawa State chapter of the APC plans to conduct a ward congress following the national convention in March 2026, anticipating the defection of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to the party.
A former National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in North-East Nigeria, Alhaji Umar Duhu, announced that the Adamawa State chapter will hold its ward congress after the national convention set for March 25, 2026. This decision comes in light of expected political maneuvers, particularly the anticipated defection of the current Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to the APC. Duhu emphasized that the timing is strategic to allow Fintiri to finalize his transition into the party.
Duhu further elaborated that the National Executive Council of the APC made this decision to provide a conducive environment for the governor to join the party without any complications. Following the national convention, a two-week registration period will open on the APC portal to accommodate Fintiri and other potential defectors, ensuring they can participate fully in the upcoming congresses. This approach aims to create a 'level playing field' for all members involved.
The planned congress positions the APC in Adamawa for potential shifts in the political landscape as prominent figures like Fintiri join its ranks. This move could enhance the partyβs influence in the region, especially leading up to the next election cycle. As such, the dynamics within the party and among its leadership could be affected significantly by these developments.
