Estonian figure skater Niina Petrõkina is set to perform her free skating routine at the Olympic Games, after a strong showing in the short program.
Niina Petrõkina, a double European champion, is competing in the women's single skating free program at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, with a live broadcast scheduled for 20:00 on ETV2 and ERR's sports portal. In the recent short program, she scored 69.63 points, which was close to her Estonian record, falling short by just 0.98 points. Petrõkina executed impressive technical elements, including a double Axel, a triple Lutz, and a cascade of a triple Toe loop, alongside a triple Flip.
Despite minor mistakes during her routine, Petrõkina remains optimistic about her performance and aims to improve in the free program. During a post-performance interview, she expressed her desire for a better score, citing her clean performance that earned her 70 points at the European Championships. She acknowledged that numerous competitors managed to achieve season-best scores and is determined to push her limits in the upcoming free skating event.
The competition is intense, with 9 women scoring over 70 points in the short program, highlighting the high level of talent present at the Olympics. Leading the pack is Japan's Ami Nakai with a score of 78.71 points, setting the stage for an exciting free program that will showcase the top skaters' skills and artistry.
