In a significant honor for Italian athletes, the Olympic champions Lisa Vittozzi and Davide Ghiotto have been chosen as the flag bearers for Italy during the closing ceremony of the Olympics, set to take place on Sunday, February 22, in Verona. Vittozzi, a biathlete from Friuli, made history by winning the first Olympic gold medal for Italy in her sport (in the pursuit event) and also secured a silver in the mixed relay. Ghiotto, a speed skater from Vicenza, was a key member of the team that won another historic gold in the team pursuit alongside his teammates Andrea Giovannini and Michele Malfatti. Together, they will proudly carry the Italian flag in front of a global audience at the Arena in Verona.
