Registration for Specialist More Doctors in PI ends this Thursday (19); scholarship of up to R$ 20,000

The registration for the second cycle of the More Doctors Specialist program in Piauí, Brazil, ends on Thursday, offering scholarships to attract healthcare professionals.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health is concluding the registration for the second cycle of the More Doctors Specialist program on Thursday, the 19th. This initiative aims to fill 122 positions in public health hospitals and ambulatory services across 15 municipalities in Piauí state. Out of these, 86 are available for immediate placement, while 36 will serve for a reserve list. Candidates can apply through the UNA-SUS virtual platform, and the program is set to provide scholarships ranging from R$ 10,000 to R$ 20,000.

This phase of the program, branded as 'Agora Tem Especialistas', is designed to enhance access to specialized care within Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS), significantly reducing wait times for consultations, examinations, and surgeries. Eleven municipalities in Piauí will receive physicians right away to address urgent healthcare needs. The nationwide initiative aims to appoint a total of 1,206 specialists to bolster the healthcare workforce, fortifying services in various medical disciplines.

The impact of this program is expected to alleviate some of the burdens on Brazil's healthcare system, particularly in underserved regions. Prior reports indicated that 46 doctors have already begun working in fields such as general surgery, gynecology, and anesthesiology across several cities in Piauí, which points to a timely intervention for communities requiring immediate medical attention.
