Residents will be able to receive free notary consultations
On March 5th, residents can receive free consultations from certified notaries on various legal matters, particularly focusing on changes in divorce processes.
On March 5th, the Notary Days will be held in Latvia, providing residents access to complimentary consultations with certified notaries on a range of legal issues. This year's event will place special emphasis on the new regulations concerning divorce that come into effect as of March 1st. Under these new rules, agreements regarding child custody, visitation rights, and alimony will need to be formalized in a notary act, allowing for immediate enforcement without the need for legal proceedings if one party fails to comply with the agreement.
Aigars Kaupe, the chairman of the Latvian Council of Certified Notaries, highlighted that Notary Days, now in their 20th year, demonstrate notaries' commitment to public engagement and their aim to clarify complex legal issues in an understandable manner. He emphasized the notary's role in ensuring legal security, explaining the legal implications of transactions, and helping individuals make informed decisions to reduce potential conflicts in the future.
The Notary Day event will run from 10 AM to 4 PM, and it presents an invaluable opportunity for the public to gain access to professional legal advice without any costs associated. This initiative not only fosters legal literacy among the populace but also reinforces the importance of formalized legal agreements in safeguarding rights, particularly for families undergoing divorce.
