'First you beat them, then you offer flowers', Avimukteshwaranand comments on the honor of Brahmacharis
Avimukteshwaranand raises serious questions about the UP Deputy CM's recent honor bestowed upon Brahmacharis in the wake of prior police misconduct during the Magh Mela.
In Varanasi, Swami Avimukteshwaranand has publicly criticized Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak for honoring 101 Brahmacharis, claiming that such gestures are hollow given the recent police brutality they faced. The controversy began during the Makar Sankranti celebrations, where police were reported to have assaulted the Brahmacharis by pulling their hair and physically assaulting them. Deputy Chief Minister Pathak later termed this incident a 'sin' and organized a ceremonial honoring of the Brahmacharis at his residence; however, this gesture has been met with skepticism from both the Shankaracharya and community leaders.
