Eight injured, including child, in Russian attacks on three Ukrainian oblasts
Eight individuals, including a six-year-old girl, were wounded in Russian attacks across three Ukrainian regions.
On February 18, Russian attacks resulted in injuries to eight people, including a child, across Kherson, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts in Ukraine. Civilians suffered due to drone, warplane, and artillery strikes, particularly in Kherson where the majority of the injuries were reported. The strikes targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure, leading to significant damage, including to multiple housing units and vehicles.
In Kherson Oblast, local military administration head Oleksandr Prokudin indicated that five of the injured were from this area alone. The attacks were severe enough to cause extensive property damage, affecting seven apartment buildings and over ten houses. Civilian infrastructure was also hit, which could increase the burden on an already strained humanitarian situation in the region.
The ongoing conflict has made these areas particularly vulnerable, and the repeated strikes illustrate the continuous threat posed by Russian military actions. The situation remains dire for many civilians in these areas as they face dangers to their lives and livelihoods from such assaults. Local authorities are now grappling with the aftermath of these attacks, and the ongoing violence complicates any efforts for relief and recovery in the region.
