Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis recently met with Michael Kratsios, the Assistant to the President of the United States and Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, during the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. This meeting highlighted the potential for collaboration between Greece and the U.S. in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence, as well as the broader EU-U.S. relations regarding technological policies. The discussions included significant topics such as the regulatory framework surrounding the societal impact of artificial intelligence and emphasized the necessity of protecting minors online.

In addition to the discussions on AI and technological collaboration, the meeting also touched upon the prospect of creating an AI giga factory by the Public Power Corporation (DEI) in Western Macedonia. This initiative aims to bolster the technological landscape within Greece, aligning with the government’s efforts to enhance digital infrastructure and innovation. The Prime Minister's advocacy for robust regulatory measures indicates a proactive approach to addressing challenges posed by AI advancements, especially concerning ethical implications and societal impacts.

Mitsotakis is in India to participate in the 2026 India AI Impact Summit, a significant political and geoeconomic initiative that aims to shape global discussions around AI technology and collaboration. The summit represents an important platform for Greece to assert its position within the international community, as well as explore partnerships that could lead to mutual economic benefits and technological advancements. Today, Mitsotakis is scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, further solidifying the importance of international dialogue on AI and technology policy.
