Ruckus in UP Assembly: Severe Clash Between Sanjay Nishad and SP Legislators
A violent confrontation occurred in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly during budget discussions between Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad and legislators of the Samajwadi Party.
During the budget discussion in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, a significant clash erupted between Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad and members of the Samajwadi Party (SP). The Minister of Fisheries, Dr. Nishad, praised the budget while harshly criticizing opposition parties. In response to his remarks, SP members rushed to the well of the house, where they snatched speaking notes from the minister, leading to a physical altercation between the two groups. Subsequently, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh labeled the incident an attempted assault on the minister and formally lodged a complaint against it.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday evening as Minister Nishad made scathing remarks aimed at both the Congress and SP parties during his speech. He mentioned that the Nishad community had been fighting against these 'dishonest' elements for 75 years since the time of the British and the Mughals. His comments sparked outrage among SP legislators, particularly as he accused the party of neglecting the fishermen community over their 30 years in power, during which they allegedly failed to provide any support.
Minister Nishad further mocked the SP by referring to an administrative position in his department that was changed to an Urdu section, casting doubt on the capabilities of the opposition. This event underscores the heightened tensions within the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly, particularly as the opposition appears increasingly frustrated with the ruling party's strategies and decisions during the budget session.
