A man returning to Lithuania with more than 6 kilograms of cannabis will stand trial
A Lithuanian man faces trial for attempting to smuggle over 6 kilograms of cannabis from the UK into Lithuania.
A Lithuanian man has been charged with drug trafficking after authorities discovered he was attempting to smuggle more than 6 kilograms of cannabis into the country. Court documents reveal that in late September 2025, he traveled to the United Kingdom with the intent of acquiring a substantial amount of cannabis. The man reportedly obtained 62 vacuum-sealed packages containing the drug, along with a syringe filled with cannabis extract, before returning to Lithuania in early October. Upon his return, the man attempted to enter Lithuania through the Kalvarija border crossing without declaring the drugs to customs, which amounts to a serious violation of drug laws. He was apprehended by border control officers on the road leading from Kaunas to Marijampolė while transporting the illicit substances in his vehicle. This incident highlights ongoing issues surrounding drug trafficking between Lithuania and other countries. Further investigation revealed additional illegal substances at the man’s residence, leading to further charges against him for unlawful possession of narcotic materials without the intent to distribute. This case underscores the continual struggle that law enforcement faces in curbing drug smuggling operations in Lithuania, as authorities work to combat the influx of illegal drugs across its borders.
