IL: Kirsi Salo manages with a few hundred euros: 'I don't take warm showers'
TV presenter Kirsi Salo shares her self-sufficient lifestyle, highlighting her frugal living conditions and practices.
In a recent interview with Iltalehti, well-known Finnish TV presenter Kirsi Salo opened up about her self-sufficient lifestyle in Juvalla. She revealed that she relies on wood to heat her home and prepares her meals using a wood stove. Salo also mentioned that she finds taking warm showers to be a challenge; during winter, she completely avoids warm showers and only uses cold water from her garden shower in the summer.
Salo's simplicity extends to her shopping habits as well; she claims to manage her daily expenses on about 700 euros a month and does not engage in shopping frequently. She shared that all of her clothes are at least a decade old, emphasizing her minimalistic approach to life. Additionally, Salo acknowledged that her transition to this lifestyle might surprise some, especially considering her previous life in Helsinki where she had a more conventional way of living.
Last year, Salo had discussed her home-building project and the transition to self-sufficiency with Ilta-Sanomat. She conveyed her belief that such a radical lifestyle change is indeed achievable and expressed contentment in her ability to live with less, demonstrating that a simple life can still offer fulfillment and stability, despite the societal pressures to engage in consumerism.
