AIMIM's Delhi president has urged the government to shut down all alcohol shops during Ramadan to respect the religious sentiments of the Muslim community.
Dr. Shoaib Zameer, the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in Delhi, has formally requested the Delhi government to close all alcohol shops during the holy month of Ramadan. Zameer argues that just as meat shops are closed during the Hindu month of Sawan as a mark of respect, the same consideration should be given to Ramadan in recognition of religious sentiments. He emphasizes that during this period, the government has a responsibility to preserve the sanctity of the month by prohibiting the sale and consumption of alcohol.
