Abia PFN advises Otti against early retirement in politics
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria in Abia State advises Governor Alex Otti to reconsider his intention to retire from politics after his second term.
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Abia State has expressed concerns regarding Governor Alex Otti's plans to retire from politics at the end of his second term in 2031. During a recent courtesy visit to the governor's office, Archbishop Dr. Chikezie Elekwa, the immediate past State Chairman of PFN, urged Otti to rethink his decision and emphasized that political future should be determined by the will of the people, not solely by personal choice.
Archbishop Elekwa highlighted the significance of community involvement in political decisions, arguing that Otti's departure from politics after such a brief time would not be beneficial for the public. The clergymen conveyed that Otti should gauge public opinion regarding his potential political future, stressing that it is ultimately the citizens who should have a say in whether he should continue in office beyond his current term.
The advice comes as Otti has made statements indicating his intent to leave active politics post-governorship. This is particularly relevant in Nigeria's dynamic political landscape, where the continuity of leadership and experienced politicians can greatly impact governance and development. The appeal from the PFN reflects a broader call for political leaders to remain engaged and responsive to the electorate’s desires, potentially affecting Otti's trajectory in political service beyond 2031.
