India sets Guinness World Record, this is the first time this has happened

During the India AI Impact Summit 2026, India set a new Guinness World Record by getting a massive number of participants to take an AI pledge.

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the country achieved a remarkable feat by registering a Guinness World Record for the largest number of individuals taking an AI pledge within 24 hours. A total of 250,946 people participated in this initiative designed to raise awareness about artificial intelligence. The credit for this significant achievement was attributed to Prime Minister Modi by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The AI pledge aimed to encourage public engagement with artificial intelligence, reflecting the Indian government's commitment to advancing AI literacy among its citizens. To facilitate this initiative, the government created a specialized microsite on the AI Impact Portal where participants could engage in the pledge through various devices, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs. After taking the pledge, participants were required to complete a quiz, and all who participated were awarded an online badge.

Additionally, the AI Impact Summit was extended by one day, highlighting the event's significance and the government's proactive approach to fostering a greater understanding of AI in India. The success of this record-setting event not only underscores India's enthusiasm for AI but also marks a pivotal moment in the country's campaign for technological advancement and public awareness.
