‘Real Estate Debate’ Jang Dong-hyuk Says He Almost Worked Himself to Death Answering President's SNS Questions During Lunar New Year
Jang Dong-hyuk of the People Power Party criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol for focusing solely on real estate issues in his social media questions during the Lunar New Year.
Jang Dong-hyuk, a representative from Korea's People Power Party, expressed his discontent regarding President Yoon Suk-yeol's focus on real estate matters, declaring that he almost worked himself to death over the Lunar New Year period while responding to questions from the President on social media. He argued that the President's communications should also address critical issues like exchange rates, inflation, and jobs while lamenting the lack of comprehensive discussion of pressing national concerns. Jang's comments were made during a party Supreme Council meeting, where he highlighted that the most pressing issue the President should confront is customs tariffs. He criticized the perceived subservience of the Korean President in international discussions, particularly when engaging with leaders like Donald Trump. Jang suggested that if the President finds direct engagement with opposition leaders uncomfortable, leveraging social media for tariff negotiations would suffice. In the past days, tensions escalated when President Yoon targeted Jang directly on social media, questioning his stance on owner-occupied housing regulations. Jang responded by expressing concern for his mother's wellbeing due to the President's posts and subsequently intensified his critique of the administration's handling of relations with North Korea, denouncing actions he viewed as overly submissive and demanding a more assertive national posture.
