"They Will Come Like a Tsunami of Investment": Banco Base Notes Foreign Companies' Interest in Mexico
Banco Base highlights a significant interest from foreign companies to invest in Mexico despite current market volatility.
Banco Base, a financial institution in Mexico, has observed a noticeable interest from foreign companies looking to invest in Mexico, even amid ongoing volatility in the corporate sector. According to Julio Escandón, the CEO of Banco Base, foreign entities are "paying to see" the situation improve, anticipating a surge in investment as soon as the market stabilizes. This sentiment reflects a growing confidence that as barriers to investment are lifted, a significant influx of capital will follow, likening this to a "tsunami of investment".
Escandón further noted that they receive regular inquiries from international investors from various regions, including Turkey, showcasing a broad interest in Mexican markets. He emphasized that while potential investors await certain indicators of stability before committing fully, the underlying interest remains robust. He expressed optimism that once the conditions are right, the anticipated growth tied to foreign investments would emerge, signaling a pivotal shift for the Mexican economy.
Enrique Galena, the company's Director of Administration and Finance, added that despite the noise and uncertainty in the current market, the fundamental conditions necessary for investment in Mexico continue to be attractive. He pointed out that various sectors still exhibit strong interest, suggesting that there might be a temporary pause now, but the potential for growth and investment will prevail in the near future, ultimately reinforcing the idea that Mexico remains a compelling destination for foreign capital.
