Morro da Casa Verde is the champion of the Acesso 2 of Carnaval in SP 2026; X-9 Paulistana also rises in group

Morro da Casa Verde won the Acesso 2 title in São Paulo's 2026 Carnaval, earning promotion to Acesso 1 for the next year, alongside vice-champion X-9 Paulistana.

Morro da Casa Verde has been crowned the champion of the Acesso 2 group in São Paulo's Carnaval for 2026, which allows the samba school to advance to the Acesso 1 group in 2027. The X-9 Paulistana secured the runner-up position and will also be promoted, joining Morro da Casa Verde in the upcoming Desfile das Campeãs set for Saturday. On the contrary, the teams Uirapuru da Mooca and Amizade Zona Leste were relegated to the Group Especial de Bairros da UESP for the next year due to their performance.

The parade by Morro da Casa Verde, themed 'Santo Antônio de Batalha, faz de mim batalhador!' (St. Anthony of Battle, make me a fighter!), showcased a well-coordinated and harmonious performance, which was highlighted as a key aspect of their presentation at the Anhembi Sambadrome. The school entertained the audience for 49 minutes and 39 seconds, demonstrating the rich cultural syncretism of its theme through vibrant costumes and engaging choreography.

The results of this season's Acesso group are significant, not only for the schools involved but also for the future of Carnaval in São Paulo, as promotions can affect sponsorship deals and community support for the samba schools. As the local carnival scene continues to evolve, the successes and failures in competition will play a critical role in shaping the landscape of this cultural festival, influencing how teams prepare and strategize for future parades.
