New judicial setback for Pablo Laurta: he is now accused of having child pornography

Pablo Laurta faces new charges of possessing child pornography in addition to his previous accusations of murder and child abduction.

Pablo Daniel Rodríguez Laurta, a Uruguayan national, has been hit with new legal troubles as authorities in Córdoba have charged him with possession of child pornography. This development comes just a week after Laurta made public claims on television, asserting that his previous actions were motivated by a desire to protect his son from a trafficking network. Laurta has been in custody since October 12, 2025, following a police operation that intercepted him at a hotel in Gualeguaychú, where he was staying with his five-year-old son, shortly after fleeing Córdoba.

On October 11, Laurta allegedly committed a double homicide, fatally shooting his former partner Luna Giardina and her mother, Mariel Zamudio, at their residence in Villa Serrana, Córdoba. The violent nature of his actions has drawn significant media attention, particularly because he fled with his son shortly after the murders, prompting a nationwide manhunt. Additionally, Laurta's escape across the Uruguay River in an attempt to evade capture adds layers of complexity to his case, as he was actively sought by law enforcement.

With these new allegations of child pornography, the legal challenges against Laurta intensify, raising concerns about the welfare of his young son. The implications of these charges will impact the ongoing legal proceedings and the public's perception of Laurta, who previously claimed he was motivated by fatherly instincts in a desperate situation. As prosecutors prepare to present their case, the need for accountability and justice for the victims and their families remains a pressing concern in Argentina's legal landscape.
