Split increases benefits for newborns: For the third and each subsequent child 8000 euros

The city of Split has announced significant increases in financial support for newborn children, with a benefit of 8000 euros for the third child onwards.

Split's Mayor Tomislav Šuta has declared a substantial increase in the financial benefits provided for newborn children in the city. Parents can expect to receive 500 euros for their first child and 750 euros for their second child, while the financial support for the third child and every subsequent child has been set at 8000 euros, distributed as 1000 euros annually over eight years. This is part of a broader initiative to support families and improve welfare for various groups in the community.

In his announcement, Mayor Šuta highlighted the importance of strengthening the rights of children in foster families and increasing budget allocations for retirees and people with disabilities. The financial support for the first and second children has been increased from the previous amounts, and these changes are seen as significant steps towards addressing the challenges of affordable housing and family welfare in Split. The mayor also proposed ongoing public consultations regarding new housing projects aimed at affordable living.

This decision reflects a growing recognition of the need to bolster natality measures within the region, as it seeks to not only improve the immediate financial circumstances of families but also tackle broader societal issues such as housing and social welfare. With Imotski also introducing ambitious measures for baby bonuses, including a 10,000 euro grant for a third child, the city is positioning itself to attract and support young families, thereby addressing demographic concerns in the region.
