Ambulance ended up in the river during an emergency response
An ambulance in Norway ended up in a river during an emergency response, but fortunately, no patients were on board at the time of the incident.
The incident took place in Lavangen, along County Road 84, where an ambulance, responding to an emergency, ended up in the Spanselva river. According to operations manager Christian Andreasen, there were no patients inside the ambulance when the accident occurred, which mitigates potential casualties. Both individuals who were on board the ambulance have been transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Emergency services are investigating the traffic accident, and part of the roadway will be closed while responders work at the scene. Andreasen indicated that they have not yet been able to fully chart the sequence of events due to the challenging geography of the Troms region. The local police and other emergency responders have just arrived on site, and more detailed information will be provided as the situation develops.
This incident highlights the inherent risks faced by emergency services when navigating challenging terrains, especially during urgent responses. The involvement of well-trained personnel and the rapid response to the situation is crucial, ensuring that those on board receive appropriate medical follow-up promptly after the accident, despite the unusual circumstances.
