Stellantis halts production at its Palomar factory until March
Stellantis announced that it will halt production at its El Palomar plant, where Peugeot and Citroën models are manufactured, until March due to seasonal adjustments and maintenance work.
Stellantis has declared a temporary halt in production at its El Palomar plant in Argentina until March. This decision arises after the Carnival holidays, with operations paused from February 18 to 20 and again from February 23 to 27. The company intends to use this period to conduct maintenance and operational adjustments, as well as to streamline the necessary logistics for the arrival of inputs needed for the resumption of production set to begin on March 2.
During the suspension period, Stellantis has stated that employees under collective agreements will receive 70% of their regular wages, in accordance with the labor agreement signed with the Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM) on February 3. The situation reflects a strategic response to seasonal dynamics in the production and market context, indicating that the measures taken do not involve any changes to the labor structure or future plans of the company.
This adjustment highlights the influence of seasonal factors on manufacturing operations, especially in the auto industry, where companies often need to align production schedules with market demands. As Stellantis continues to adapt its operational strategies, the overall impact on employment and production capacity within the sector will be closely monitored by both industry stakeholders and workers.
