US claims to have various arguments to attack Iran, and Trump makes new threat

The U.S. asserts it has multiple justifications for a potential attack on Iran amid ongoing negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

In a recent statement, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt articulated that the United States possesses several arguments that could justify a military strike on Iran. Concurrently, President Donald Trump indicated on social media that he might utilize military bases if Tehran fails to reach an agreement concerning its nuclear program. This development comes amid negotiations between the U.S. and Iran over limiting Iran's nuclear activities, which Iran insists are for peaceful purposes, despite U.S. apprehensions regarding Iran's potential development of a nuclear weapon.

During a press briefing, Leavitt referenced a significant bombing carried out by the U.S. in June 2025, which targeted Iranian nuclear facilities during the period of conflict between Iran and Israel. She emphasized the seriousness with which President Trump approaches the subject. Leavitt stated, "There are many reasons and arguments that could be put forth in favor of an attack on Iran," underlining the president's focus on U.S. national interests, military concerns, and the welfare of the American people.

Trump’s administration appears to be maintaining a hardline stance against Iran, indicating a continued willingness to engage in military action if necessary. As negotiations proceed, the rhetoric from U.S. officials illustrates a complex balancing act: attempting to secure a diplomatic resolution while also leaving open the possibility of military intervention, which could significantly escalate tensions in the region and impact international relations.
