An ATM was found broken into at a Crefisa store in Cabo Frio, prompting an investigation by the police.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, the 18th, an ATM was discovered to have been broken into inside a Crefisa store located in Parque Burle, Cabo Frio. The Military Police were called around 12:53 PM to investigate a possible burglary. Upon arriving at the scene, the police confirmed that the banking terminal had indeed been violated within the establishment situated at the intersection of Avenida VΓtor Rocha and Rua Joaquim Nogueira, leading to the area being cordoned off for a technical examination which arrived around 1 PM.
According to the store manager, the premises had been closed on Saturday around noon and was only reopened on Wednesday when the theft was detected. Despite the substantial nature of the crime, there were no apparent signs of forced entry through the access doors, raising questions about how the break-in was conducted. Additionally, the manager revealed that there were no security cameras installed in the establishment, which may have hindered the investigation efforts.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding security measures in financial establishments, particularly in areas susceptible to crime. The lack of surveillance may have contributed to the successful theft of funds from the ATM, pointing to a need for improved security protocols within such businesses to prevent future occurrences. The investigation by the police continues as they work to gather evidence and identify those responsible for the burglary.
